Inuit and People from the Ice

Land covered by ice, meridians of the globe come closer together and loose themselves in the white, igloos, sledges pulled by splendid blue eyed dogs, northern lights... we all know something about the Inuit.

But we do not know what it means to live surrounded by ice, to be isolated from the rest of the world, preserving thousands of years of traditions intact, to then became integrated in civilisation in a very short period of time. And we do not speak Inuktitut, a language in which there are forty different word for snow, and none for war...

Following a fascinating pathway, a knowledgeable mixture of visual and audio evocations you will be led to discover the culture and traditions of these peoples, who define themselves Inuit or “real men”.

The exhibition embraces the majority of the peoples who live in the far North of our planet, presenting objects of everyday use and remarkable works of art from the last three centuries.

A unique opportunity to see artefacts that have never been exhibited publicly in a single context. Exhibits on loan from numerous public bodies, both from Italy and abroad, as well as from several private collections.
